Exciting News!

Well, we've been talking about it for a while, but last week the Awesome Hubby (from here on known as AH) and I decided to go back to England. While I have absolutely loved my almost six-year American adventure, I'm absolutely thrilled to be going back home.

The main reason is, I miss my family so much it hurts at times. I have two grown-up children that I have seen less than half a dozen times over that time, and a mother I have seen only once. With the exchange rate consistently in the UK's favour, it's so difficult to save up enough to go over there on a regular basis. It also doesn't help when thanks to job-changing once or twice due to the economy, AH only gets a week or two of vacation (minimum is 4 weeks back home). It will be easier to visit American family and friends from there, than it was to visit England from here, put it that way.

So, over the next month or two I am going to be busy! Packing things up, selling furniture, planning travel and all that happy stuff that I have done far too much of over the past six years! The big, starting over adventure begins again. If someone had told me years ago that I would have done this much travelling in ten years, I would have laughed. I lived in the same town for most of my adult life. And now I've lived in four American states (one of them three times!). I used to be afraid of change, now it's something I take in my stride and say 'okay, what next?'.

Hopefully, I will find time to start the sequel to my finished novel, in the meantime. So many ideas buzzing around my head for that. Even though it is a stand-alone read and not part of a series, I do plan on writing more novels in that world. There are characters I would like to get to know better, and some whose stories aren't yet done. And some I haven't met yet.

I would like to settle down soon though!

Very exciting! Like you say,the start of a whole new adventure.

Although I love to travel and spend time in different places, I don't think I could ever move from the UK on a permanent basis ( and my husband certainly wouldn't). OK, so we might get a lot of rain, but there are advantages to living here too :)

Super exciting news! I'm sad you're leaving the states, but now I have another reason to visit England!

Where will you be moving to?

Cheryl,

I can't tell you how happy I am for you! It's such amazing news to know you'll be able to go back to your home. One of my dearest, closest friends moved back to England last year -- he was in the U.S. for seven years, and due to some unfortunate circumstances, had to return home. I can't wait to see him again, but one day soon!

Outside of that, I wish you all the best on your trip back. Let Katie and I know when you're going -- we're still planning that beta-reader group! Your husband sounds like a wonderful man to go back home with you.

@ Mel and Elisabeth, thank you!

@Helen, I tried, and I loved it here, just too many ties back home to stay forever. It's been a fun adventure though.

@LG Thanks!

@Tameri as close to my folks as possible, somewhere in the Yorkshire area, hopefully near Leeds.

@Rance I'm still on for the beta-reader thing, email means it doesn't matter how far away we are :) And he's definitely a keeper, yes!

Oh lucky you :) Having only moved here from the UK 3 years ago, I can totally understand. I am missing my family big time, although I have been very lucky to have visited twice since moving. England is so pretty. I love where I live now but I still think of England as 'home'. Where will you move back to? Good luck with all that lovely packing! Will check out your new blog too :)
